The mountain witch (Geotrygon versicolor) is a beautiful irridescent quail dove indigenous to the montane forests of Jamaica. The colorful name comes from its sad, crazed sounding call. The bird is still rather common where good habitat occurs, particularly in the Blue Mountains. Here a mountain witch suns beside a young tree fern.
