oil on linen 26 x 40 $10,000. Black Vultures (Coragyps atratus) are common, well-known birds throughout tropical America, north to Missouri and New England. Feeding on carrion, they mate for life and live in loose family groups, often gathering in large parties every evening to roost for the night. Like all other New World vultures, this species is descended from an ancient lineage of American birds and is not closely related to the vultures of the Old World. |
